I had to take the time to put together a letter of reference for Cat Care Initiative as I was blown away at the compassion, dedication and commitment of the people behind this program. I also have to mention the families who provide foster care and open up their homes for those cats and kittens lucky enough to have been rescued. Special thanks go out to Diane for taking care of our new family addition until we found her.
Everyone involved puts in all their own time and money that they themselves put effort into fundraising into finding foster care until their forever homes are found. Food, medical care and the list goes on that these animals need.
Every cat and kitten is not just handed over to someone with an interest but they are required, as I did, to fill out an application and have a home visit. The details of the application surprised me as they even went as far as to contact my vet to ensure that the animals in my care both prior and current are well provided for. The questions asked give deeper insight as to the type of person looking to adopt one of their cats or kittens.
After describing our family and home already having our dog, Suzanne felt that she knew the right kittens to show us as they were being fostered by a family with dogs. Using time away from her family on a Saturday, Suzanne drove an hour out of her way to meet me at the foster home for us to see the kittens. Then she was off afterwards to see about the possibility of rescuing more cats after our visit.
The care did not end there. We received a pamphlet on how to help our new addition adjust to our family. Great advice which has us on day 4 where our new addition is wondering through our home and even napped with our dog this afternoon.
I’m writing this not only thank those I came in contact with at Cat Care Initiative but, also in hopes to bring awareness to a great group of people doing a great thing to help out those who can’t help themselves. Any type of help I’m sure would be appreciated, donations of any kind- money/food, or stepping forward to foster, and if you’re not able to do that, help spread the word. The best form of advertizing is word of mouth. I will for sure be doing my part to help as I couldn’t imagine our newest addition, Delilah at 10 weeks old being outside when we are about to get our first snow storm tonight. Instead she is safe and warm at her forever home with us.
Thank you from the Cestra family
